Pet Health

Dogwood Veterinary Hospital & Pet Resort tailors its medical protocols to each pet's breed, age, and gender. One size does not fit all. Our doctors will discuss with you the best recommendations to keep your pet as healthy as possible for his/her lifetime. For example, an 8 week old Labrador puppy should be screened for a genetic condition called hip dysplasia. If detected early, the crippling disease can be surgically prevented.

The American Animal Hospital Association recommends that healthy dogs and cats under 7 years old visit their veterinarian at least once yearly and that senior pets over 7 years old visit every six months for a complete physical exam, laboratory testing and any recommended vaccinations and dentistry. Your pet's age and health will determine when to schedule a visit to ensure your pet's optimal health and long life.
