Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Pet Resort would like to introduce you to the newest member of our team – Dr. Katharine Holder, DVM veterinarian.

Dr. Holder joins Dr. Linda Sands and Dr. Michelle Pineda as the doctors on staff at Dogwood for all of your furry friends’ medical needs.

Dr. Holder grew up in the mountains of North Carolina before attending North Carolina State University for her undergraduate degree in animal science. She stuck with her Alma mater and also earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine at NC State, which was ranked as the third-best veterinary medicine program in the nation by the U.S News and World Report in 2015.

After vet school, she completed a small animal internship at SouthPaws Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Center in Fairfax, Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C. Dr. Holder fell in love with the D.C. area and stayed there for another six years before returning to her home state of North Carolina.

Her professional interests include dermatology, feline medicine, and preventative medicine. Dr. Holder also has a special interest in marine conservation and enjoys SUBA diving and teaching people about the importance of coral reefs and their protection.

Dr. Holder’s other hobbies include cooking tasty meals, traveling to far off places, and spending time with her family. She lives with her two furry Ragdoll cats, Willow and Zephyr.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Holder at Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Pet Resort and hope that all of the pets (and their humans) that come to see us will give her a warm welcome.
